Artisans and Informal Business Sector owners operating in Lagos Urban Spaces have been advised to protect themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the world as they go about their businesses.

The advice was contained in a statement issued by the Acting General Manager of the Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority, LASPEMA, Engr. Waheed Olanrewaju Kazeem.
He stressed the need for informal business owners to follow the health and safety tips announced in the State, as well as the directive of the State’s Incident Commander, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a bid to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the safety of members of the informal sector and the entire public.
While advising the informal business owners to cease operating in clusters as the virus can thrive in such an environment, Kazeem also said, “car wash owners must wear overalls, face masks and hand gloves when on duty and they must reduce the number of vehicles to be washed at a time in order to curtail the spread of the virus. It is also important to reiterate the need for constant washing of hands with soap and water or cleaning them with alcohol-based sanitisers after each job”.
Similarly, he urged Auto Sales dealers to observe social distancing when striking a deal with buyers, stressing that there must be total adherence to all guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
Recall that in easing the lockdown directive, the Lagos State Government directed business owners to operate between 9 a.m and 3 p.m while the Federal Government imposed a curfew from 8 p.m to 6 a.m daily in order to halt the spread of the Coronavirus disease in Lagos.
