In the aftermath of the Presidential lockdown order to contain the Coronavirus pandemic, the Lagos State Government has issued a directive that all building construction works be put on hold while the sit-at-home order subsists
The stop-work order was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako on Tuesday
Dr. Salako said that in furtherance of the lockdown order of President Muhammadu Buhari, it had become imperative to direct that all building construction works in the State be left at the stage they were prior to the stay-at-home directive
The State Government, through the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, had captured and documented with pictorial evidence, stages and levels of all construction sites in different locations in the State prior to the lockdown
Salako emphasised that any building site found to have exceeded the documented stage will be sanctioned in accordance with the relevant Physical Planning laws of the State
The Commissioner enjoined members of the general public to report any building construction site noticed to be working in their various communities during the period by calling the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development on 08037227698 or 08053500032
