COVID-19: Ejigbo LCDA inaugurates 23-man committee to sensitise residents

Ejigbo Local Government Community Development Area (LCDA) has inaugurated a 23-Man Committee to sensitise residents in the council area on the causes, prevention and control of the Coronavirus pandemic.

This was contained in a statement signed by the LCDA Media Officer, Kunle Oladele in Lagos.

He said the committee members were made up Head of Departments in the council area, representatives of Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Association (CDA),

According to Oladele, the committee was to educate the people on the symptoms of the disease and what to do when detected.

He also said the committee would educate the people on how to live a healthy and hygienic life to prevent its contact.

The committee, Oladele said would and provide accurate, correct and timely information on the virus so as to avoid panic which sometimes leads to death.

The Local Council has promised to carry out the sensitization throughout the six political wards of the LCDA.

This followed the directive of the Lagos State Government, to all Local Governments and LCDAs to sensitise her residents on COVID-19

The media officer said the move became important due to the global pandemic the disease has caused, and the increase in confirmed cases found in Nigeria, especially in Lagos State.

He said a demonstration was also done on how to wash hands properly with soap and water.

Speaking on behalf of the Council Chairman, Alhaji Monsurudeen Bello, the Council Manager, implored all residents of the council to be proactive in maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, so as to prevent the spread of the disease.

The event had in attendance the APC chairman in Ejigbo, Alhaji Fatai Kasumu, executive members, the Legislative members and the management team of the local council.

Also in attendance were Community Development Committee (CDC), Community Development Association (CDA), leaders and members, representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), artisans, market men and women and drivers’ unions.

Recall that the sensitisation started on Thursday 5th March, 2020, at the Jakande Estate Retail Market.
