It’s no news that schools have been shut down as a result of the coronavirus pandemic currently ravaging the world. Children have been forced to stay at home, longer than they should have for the Easter holiday. Parents are overwhelmed with caring for the children. Nobody is asking how the children feel about this period. UGOCHI MBA a.k.a Aunty Ugo decided to speak with some children online, while maintaining social distance, to find out if they are tired of staying at home and if they indeed even have an idea of why they have been home so long.
EWERE AVANRENREN- 5 Years Old
I have not been going to school because of the lockdown. The lockdown is because of the Covid-19 virus. Covid-19 is a virus that can spread so easily. One cough can bring 3000 particles of the virus. So it is better if you wear a mask, use hand sanitizers and frequently wash your hands with soap and water. I miss school. I want school to resume so that I can learn because I love learning.
SOMKENECHUKWU OKPARA- 5 Years Old
I have not been going to school because of the lockdown that is caused by coronavirus. I learnt about coronavirus from my mummy because mummy is always saying coronavirus, coronavirus and when she is watching the television, they are always saying coronavirus. I miss school. I want school to resume because I want to learn.
SULTANA MUSTAPHA- 4 Years Old
I have not been going to school because of coronavirus. Mummy Muna (their neighbour) told me about coronavirus. She said we should always wash our hands with soap and water and I have already washed my hands with soap and water. I miss school. I miss my friends (Kamsi, Chisimdi, Maro, Chidera and Chioma). I want to do my homework. I want school to resume. I will clap for myself.(She goes ahead to clap).

I have not been going to school because of the coronavirus in Nigeria. My mummy, daddy, big sister and teacher all told me about coronavirus. I don’t miss going to school. I miss my friends and my teachers. I want school to resume so I can see my friends and my teachers. I also want to do my homework and my exams.

I have not been going to school because there is coronavirus everywhere. My mummy, my daddy and my big sister told me about coronavirus. I miss school because I miss my friends and my teachers. I want school to resume on Tuesday because I miss all my friends.
