Joining Uduokhai on the list of players shortlisted for the accolade are Eduard Löwen, Tin Jedvaj and Philipp Max.

The former Germany U-20 international returned to Augsburg’s starting lineup after he started on the bench against his parent club, VfL Wolfsburg last weekend.

Uduokhai notched up a game-high eight clearances to help goalkeeper Andreas Luthe post a rare shutout, only his first of the season in four games.

The 22-year-old made two interceptions, two tackles, blocked two shots and did not commit any foul over the course of ninety minutes he was in action.

He moved to Augsburg on loan from Wolfsburg in August 2019 in search of regular playing time.

As at the time of this report, Uduokhai had garnered 14.7 per cent of the votes.
