Special Duties Commissioner promises faster response to emergency

The newly sworn-in Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, has assured that there will be faster response to fire and other emergency incidents in Lagos.

He gave the assurance during his maiden meeting with members of staff of the Ministry, declaring that the primary focus of the present administration is the protection of lives and property of all residents in the State.

Bamgbose-Martins acknowledged the efforts and achievements of his predecessor during his six months in office and solicited for the commitment of staff, adding that Key Performance Indicators (KPI) will be recorded for all staff so that the evaluation of their work can be done and measured.

While decrying the high rate of fire incidents recently recorded in Lagos, the Commissioner reiterated government’s resolve to promptly address such unfortunate incidents and maintained that all responders will be adequately equipped and staff kitted for optimum performance always.

He further revealed that all agencies under the Ministry which include LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire Service, the Lagos State Safety Commission, and the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps will be given adequate support in terms of logistics and materials, adding, however, that all responders must reciprocate government’s gesture by being committed and dedicated to their work.
On staff welfare, Engr. Bamgbose-Martins noted that a well-trained and motivated workforce is key to success, promising to upgrade of facilities and equipment for efficient and effective service delivery to Lagosians.
