Secrets to lovely, soft lips

Many people suffer from chapped lips, especially during this dry season. If you are one of them, don’t despair! You are not the only one, but what you do to solve that problem is more important.

Beauty experts have come up with tips and therapies that have worked for women all over the world and I am sure it will work for you too if you follow these guidelines:
1. Get lips soft and smooth by using a damp, warm washcloth at night to rub off the flaky dry bits; follow with a coat of lip balm.
2. Choose your lip products wisely. Invest in a good lip balm to protect your smile. Harsh weather; wind and cold temperatures, will dry out your lips and can leave them looking and feeling sore but you can protect them very easily and inexpensively with a balm. Lipsticks, glosses or balms that include an SPF will also protect from the sun’s damaging rays. Always check the ingredients on your favourite lip product. If it contains camphor, phenol or menthol, avoid buying them as these can dry your lips out and should be avoided.
3. Always make sure you are hydrated. Your lips will begin to feel tight and dry if you are dehydrated. So drink plenty of fluids and make water your best friend
4. Exfoliate your lips. Get a face washer and dampen it. Wrap it around your index finger and gently massage over your lips. After about a minute, your lips should be softer and less flaky.
5. Apply your lip makeup. Put a bit of lip balm on first. Less is more! Fold a tissue in half and press your lips on it. This will remove any excess. Next, apply clear lip gloss. Again, blot with the tissue.
6. To make lipstick last longer, allow it to set for a few minutes after applying, blot lips with tissue and To keep lipstick from bleeding, pat a little concealer around your lips dust them with powder, then apply another coat.
7. Pay attention to your diet. Vitamin B deficiency can lead to cracked lips so make sure you’re getting enough from your diet. Include lots of milk, eggs, meat products, cheese, nuts, fish, bananas and whole grains to help boost your vitamin B levels.
