Former Super Eagles skipper, John Obi Mikel has commented on reports linking him with Botafogo.
The accomplished midfielder, who is a free agent, has been linked with the Brazilian Serie A club since last month.
This was after Mikel parted ways with Trabzonspor, who are campaigning in the Turkish Super Lig.
The 32-year-old player confirmed that Botafogo have made contact with his representatives as they look to sign him.
“Yes there has been interest, and yes there have been negotiations. “But I don’t know yet. I am still thinking about it. Not sure yet,” Mikel disclosed.
Mikel is a well-travelled player having turned out for Chinese club Tianjin TEDA and English sides Chelsea, and Middlesbrough.
He is one of Nigeria’s most decorated players in Europe having won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and English Premier League.
