Isolo LCDA holds emergency security meeting

An emergency meeting of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) was held on Wednesday with a call on residents of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), to freely volunteer information and intelligence needed to stop the nefarious activities of hoodlums.

The meeting which was hosted by the Aswani Division of the Nigeria Police as a direct response to recent rumoured invasion of Isolo Township by the dreaded ‘One Million Boys.’

In her opening remark, the DPO of Aswani Police Division, CSP Oyin Frances stressed the need for residents to volunteer useful information that would assist the police to swiftly respond to emergency cases.

She denied rumour of the invasion of Isolo Township by ‘One Million Boys’ positing that pockets of street gangs were responsible for disturbances experienced last Monday afternoon.

Corroborating the DPO, the Executive Chairman of Isolo LCDA, Hon Shamsudeen Abiodun Olaleye noted that One Million Boys and other notorious gangs are not in Isolo as being speculated but rather have friends in Isolo.

To this end, he advised community leaders as well as residents to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of these hoodlums stressing that security of our environment should be paramount to all and sundry.

As regards to the recent order of the Inspector General of Police (IG) outlawing burning of tyres, brandishing of dangerous weapons and jungle justice, the council boss said while burning of tyres weakens the road and have serious health  implications for human beings,  weapons such as cutlasses, knives are only for self-defence in the face of threat to life.

“I am aware that there are lots of cutlasses and weapons in the hands of our youths particularly at these challenging times. While we cannot says it is illegal to use these weapons for self-defence, it is becomes expedient for community leaders to retrieve these weapons when peace returns to our communities. If we don’t, we may live to regret it, “the council boss posited.
