Ighalo relishes Man Utd dream start

Former Super Eagles forward, Odion Ighalo has insisted that he’s in Manchester United to relish an aged-long dream. Ighalo, who hung up his international boots following the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, joined the Red Devils on-loan for the remainder of the 2019/20 season on transfer deadline day. Ighalo revealed that he couldn’t sleep in waiting for Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua to accept the offer from Old Trafford. The 30-year-old is no stranger to the English Premier League having scored 17 goals in 55 league appearances in his time at Watford.

United new pearl, Ighalo has already given the club a lift despite not yet making his debut for Manchester United. Ighalo, who described his surprise move as a “dream come true”, adds “I never thought this was going to happen, but dreams do come true.”

That desire to make an impact, no doubt, can certainly help when he’s on the pitch and the passion that he looks likely to show when wearing that red shirt could spur him in achieving the unexpected for his new club.

The Red Devils currently occupy seventh place in the English Premier League, 38 points behind leaders and fierce rivals Liverpool.
Plenty of legitimate questions remain about how United’s recruitment strategy has ended up requiring the emergency signing of a 30-year-old striker on loan, but nobody can deny Ighalo is approaching his task with anything but unbridled excitement.

At one point Ighalo admits his Watford teammates “knew that I loved Man United”. These aren’t just the usual platitudes trotted out by new signings. Pictures have already emerged of Ighalo wearing a United shirt as a child and his passion for the club is very real.
