‘I take charm made from grinded human skull, mixed with pepper to increase patronage’, suspect reveals

A 43-year-old herbal medicine seller, Muritala Salami who is currently being investigated by the Lagos state police command alongside his colleague Amidu Kazeem and Kazim Olanrewaju, a cemetery vault builder for allegedly buying human skulls has confessed that he takes grinded human skull mixed with pepper and local gin to make his business boom.
According to the father of three, Salami, who spoke to Community Bell at Adeniji Adele divisional police station, ‘I use the human skull to make charms to enable me get more clients. I grind the dried human skull I then mix it with pepper and take it with local gin first thing in the morning before taking anything. I did the charm to improve my sales and increase client’s patronage.
“Before the charm, I made about N30,000 daily from the sales of agbo, a traditional herbal drink but afterwards I began to make between N80,000 to N100,000”
Recounting how his sojourn into being fetish, Salami said it was his father who introduced him into the act.
Explaining further, Salami said “I met Olanrewaju when we went to Okesuna cemetery to bury a relative in September 24, 2019. After the burial I told him to help me with human skull but he initially refused. After I pestered him for days he agreed. He asked me to come to the cemetery to pick up the package. So I collected some pieces of bones on the grave yard along with the two skulls. We put it inside a bag and Olanrewaju carried them outside the gate to prevent suspicion from the security. So I paid him N12, 000 for the first two skulls he sold to me.”
“Last week I called him that I needed some human skull. Because I was unavailable, I asked my colleague Amidu Kazeem to help me take delivery of the package. It was when Olanrewaju was taking it to him that the police arrested him. After he was arrested they led the police to me.”
Ironically, Salami says, “if someone digs my corpse after they have buried it, I won’t mind after all I am no longer alive but if I am still alive I will be angry.” Apart from the two human skulls, the police also recovered two gallons of water used to wash dead bodies and clothes used to bury the dead from the suspects.
Lamenting how Salami got him implicated, 38-year-old Olanrewaju said he has worked at Okesuna Cemetery in Adeniji Adele area of Lagos Island for two years before he met Salami.
Salami was the only person that has asked me to sell human skull to him. Before now, I have never been involved in this trade. I got involved because for four days he convinced me that I will also benefit from the charm. After he prepared the first charm, he gave me some, but I couldn’t use it because of the nature of my work, because if I do, the spirits of dead people will disturb me. According to the third suspect, Kazeem, it was Salami that introduced me to Olanrewaju. I decided to get involved because I wanted to increase sales this yuletide season. This was the first time I got involved.
Explaining where he got the gallons of water used to bath corpse, Kazeem said “I bought the water used to bath dead body from Ebutte Ero market where they sell herbs. Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson Lagos State police command DSP Bala Elkana said investigation is ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to Court.
