Group distributes sanitary pads to young girls in Idimu

A Lagos-based non-governmental organisation, Weruntheworld Girls last week took to some streets in Idimu Local Government Area of Lagos to educate girls on menstrual hygiene and to donate free sanitary pads to them.

According to the group’s founder, Sharon James, they embarked on the project to mark the group’s tenth year anniversary.

In her words, “today on the occasion of Weruntheworld Girls’ 10th anniversary, we donated sanitary pads to girls around the Idimu area of Lagos, starting from Okofili and around the community. We also gave them the opportunity to ask questions relating to menstrual hygiene, and we are glad we did our best for our friends”.

“As part of celebrations to mark the international girl child day in October, we started educating girls on menstrual hygiene, and as we mark our own tenth anniversary on November 15, we will be donating 100 sanitary pads to girls within our community.”
