Ejigbo Lawmakers Pass Bill on Rule of Engagement of Private Security

Lawmakers of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), have passed a bill into law on the rule of engagement of private security guards in the LCDA. Hon. Akinbowale, the leader of the Legislative arm of the LCDA disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Community Bell. He said this bill became necessary because the council is concerned about the security of lives and properties of
citizens of the LCDA. He added that the nonchalant attitude of some residents towards payment of monthly contribution for the payment of salaries of some private security guards has become worrisome. “The bill has since been passed into law, some residents choose not to cooperate with their Community Development Associations (CDA) by not contributing towards the payment of monthly salary of such security guards. This is now a punishable offence in Ejigbo which will attract punishment by a competent court of law.” “As a responsible government we are passionate about security of lives and properties and we are aware of how some people due to whatever flimsy reason choose not to pay their security dues in their environment. This action gave birth to the
Engagement of Security Guard Bill which states that all CDAs have the right to employ private security guards who are to watch over a defined territorial confinement.” “CDAs are empowered with this bill to report anyone who fail to pay his or her security due to the police and such person will be charged to court,” he explained. Community Bell also gathered that the bill also states that CDAs, individuals and organisations at the point of employing private security guards should get their data across to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ejigbo LCDA
