Super Falcons captain and Barcelona Femeni forward, Asisat Oshoala says it is not safe to resume full training and league because the number of coronavirus cases is still rising.

Oshoala in an interview argued that any player can contract the virus during a match, go home and spread among the family.

“To be honest, to resume the league right now is still not healthy. Anyone can go home after the game and infect others during a game next time. It is not safe right now but then, it is what it is,” she said on live Instagram interview sessions.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons striker also revealed her sadness after the Spanish primer Iberdorla league was cancelled.

The League body cancelled the league and awarded the trophy to FC Barcelona Femeni, who is 9 points ahead of second-place Atletico Madrid, BSN Reports.

Falcons’ skipper said she would have loved to win the league on the field but believe safety first and it’s not healthy to start playing now.

“We were at the run of winning a treble or even four trophies this season. Atletico was out of the Cup already, so, we were more pained, we were more affected because we were already nine points ahead.

“These things happen like once, in a century, so, we have to consider the fact that it’s something that is not healthy for us. We want to win the league on the pitch and celebrate with the fans but these things (pandemic) happen.
