COVID-19: 121 suspects arrested for violating curfew, 58 others nabbed for not wearing facemask….. 79 vehicles impounded …. 325 suspects charged to Court

Operatives of Lagos State Police Command on enforcement of COVID-19 orders have arrested one hundred and twenty-one (121) suspects for violating the curfew. Fifty-eight other (58) suspects were arrested for not wearing a facemask in public.

Also, the Command impounded Seventy-nine (79) vehicles during the curfew hours.

It was gathered that the suspects along with the one hundred and forty-eight (148) suspects arrested during the weekend for violating lockdown order were charged to Court today, bringing the number of suspects charged on Tuesday 5th, May to three hundred and twenty-five (325).

Confirming their arrest, DSP Bala Elkana, Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State said “the suspects were sentenced accordingly. Some of the suspects were given four hours of community service while others were awarded fines of N2, 500 and N3000 respectively”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu and other senior officers who went around the State on the first day of the curfew to monitor compliance were impressed with the level of compliance and look forward to huge improvements in the coming days.

Also on 5th May 2020, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State and his counterpart in Ogun State visited the Police Check Point at the boundary community in Ojodu Berger manned by personnel of Lagos and Ogun States. Security is tightened at the boundary community to restrict non-essential interstates movements.
