Apata Memorial School celebrates excellence, zero tolerance for indiscipline • Marks 25th anniversary of founder’s demise

Apata Memorial School has reiterated its commitment to excellence and discipline during the memorial ceremony to commemorate 25 years of the founder’s demise, Mr. Simeon Olaosebikan Apata who was assassinated on January 8, 1995.

Speaking at a ceremony held in the school’s premises in Isolo, the school’s principal, Mr. Kunle Folorunsho said the late Apata was a disciplinarian who ensured that the academic performance of our students and pupils is top-notch. “One of the things that makes our school different is the premium we place on discipline because Mr. Apata loved discipline, our academic performance makes the school outstanding; in our external examinations, our students perform excellently and when our students go out, they excel. These are the things that endear parents to our school.”

While eulogising the late founder, Mr. Kunle said that Mr. Apata was passionate about education and when he noticed that a parent could not send his child to school, he would be interested in that child, offering to help. He also loved honest and hardworking people. His vision of establishing a solid educational system has been accomplished over the years and is still on. With the help of his wives who relentlessly work to ensure that his dream is sustained even after 25 years of his demise.

A well wisher and politician in the Oshodi-Isolo LCDA, Princess Olateru-Olagbegi described the late soldier as a compassionate man who accommodated all and sundry regardless of tribe, race and colour. She stressed that his acts of kindness were worthy of emulation.
